The Punggol Waterway is the longest waterway in Singapore which is man made. The Punggol Waterway Park is built in the area surrounding the waterway in the Punggol area of Singapore around the Sentul Crescent. It is a riverine park with an area of approximately 12.25 hectares. The Housing development board (HDB) and the National parks board of Singapore have formed a joint venture agency for developing My Waterway @ Punggol and also the park. HDB has launched an initiative called “Remaking the Heartland” focusing on redevelopment, and they plan to convert Punggol Town into a “waterfront town”. There is also a children’s playground in the park. The heritage zone is built along the old walkway and has some ancient trees preserved. The lawns in the park, can be hired for holding events. The Nature Cove lawn has an area of 5500 square meter and can hold 3000 people, while the smaller activity lawn has an area of 2700 square meters, with a capacity of 1700 people. The park is connected to the other parks in Punggol and Sengkang like riverside park at Sengkang, Punggol Park and Punggol Point park to form a nature loop. The loop has a length of 26 km and was inaugurated on February 25, 2012.Users can directly jog, skate or cycle to the next park using this loop. Various birds like the white throated kingfisher and grey Heron can be sighted at these parks.
